What Type of Picture Should I Send?

Do's

  • The very best photos are at least 150 dpi and at least 600px by 600px.  Most photographs will be rectangular in dimension so as long as one side is at least 600px you're fine.
  • In laymen terms, I need a photograph that shows your pet's face off very clearly and I need a picture that your pet is the predominant focus of.
  • Please know that I will paint exactly what I see in the photograph.
  • If you love a combination of things from different photos, I can also combine photographs; for instance, you might like the pose of your pet in one photograph, but the look on your pet's face in a different photograph.  Or maybe you want to combine a photograph of your pet, with a photograph of a location.  If you have more than one pet, you may send a different photograph of each pet.

Don'ts

  • Please do not send a blurry photograph.  Although I would do my very best to capture your pet, chances are you will be disappointed because if I cannot see your pet's face (and especially the eyes) clearly, I will not be able to truly capture your pet's essence.
  • Do not send a photo of your pet taken from a distance.
  • Do not send a black and white photo unless you want a black and white painting (which is fine!)
  • Do not send a photo that is smaller than 450px by 450px.
What is Your Turnaround Time?
Digital Portraits
You will receive a proof within 3 business days.  I then need to have the digitized version of the painting put onto canvas and shipped, which adds an additional 7-10 business days from the date you approve the final proof.  Total time is about 2 weeks, more or less, depending on how many revisions are requested.
**Please add an additional week during the month of December, due to holidays.

Hand Painted Portraits
The overall standard turnaround time for hand painted portraits, up to 16x16 in size, is 3-4 weeks.  I will always do my best to complete your painting as quickly as possible, but also do not want to sacrifice quality.  For paintings that are larger than 16x16 please ask me about turnaround time.
**Please add an additional two weeks during the month of December, due to holidays.
Can You Ship My Painting?
Absolutely!  I am happy to ship your painting world-wide.  After careful packaging, your painting is shipped via USPS Priority Mail. If you live within the continental US, shipping is a flat rate of $10.  The price for shipping abroad is $25.
Can You Frame My Painting?
Yes!  Framing is absolutely possible.  I will need to know this before I start the painting because framing affects the type of Gessobord/Canvas used.  Pricing will vary depending on the type of frame you use, but virtually any color is available to you.  We can discuss options, and cost.
What Forms of Payments Are Accepted?
My preferred methods of payment are cash, Chase Pay, Bank of America's Equivalent, Venmo, or ZellePay.

The other option I offer is PayPal but when choosing PayPal please contact me for specific instructions.
What Types of Materials Do You Use?
For Hand-Painted Portraits
I paint with acrylic on Gessobord which is  Ampersand's surface for oil and acrylic painting. These premium painting surfaces are made with a unique archival seal technology that provides a barrier between the wood substrate and the painting surface. Pre-primed with a professional-quality, acid-free Titanium White acrylic gesso ground for enhanced clarity of color, Gessobord is an ideal surface for traditional and water-based oils, alkyds, acrylics, collage, and mixed media.Made from sustainable forest products that ensure the protection of wildlife, plants, soil, and water, Gessobord is formaldehyde-free and contains no harmful volatile organic compounds. Gessobord is made in the USA.
